Albert Celades gave a post-match press conference with journalists, connected via videocall, following his side’s 1-1 draw with Levante UD at Mestalla on Matchday 28.
Reaction to the game
“Right now the feeling that we all have is a bad one, because we let a game that we had won get away from us. We did enough to win well, and it seemed as if we were going to keep a clean sheet; we had good defensive organisation. In the final minutes we didn’t play well, and the penalty meant that we ended up drawing. We have to pick ourselves up, continue preparing, and on Thursday we have another fight our hands (against Real Madrid).”
Objectives for the remainder of the season
“Whilst there have been players who have talked about the goal of reaching the Champions League, my aim was to win today and prepare for the next game. I don’t like to think about the long term when the day-to-day activity is so all-consuming. You have to put your strength and attention on the short term. I see it that way.”
Hugo Guillamón's performance
“It was a very good match from him. It was a difficult situation for him, playing in many situations that had two fast players running at him. He performed at a very good level. I hope he continues like this.”
The final minutes
“There was a free kick with nobody shooting, a penalty was given and it costs us a draw. We did not handle the last few minutes well and the idea was to have the ball, but we couldn’t do that.”
An empty Mestalla
“We are happy because we got back to playing, which is a situation that months ago looked very difficult. We play for and because of the fans. With our fans in our stadium we feel very good, and that is why we have had an unbeaten streak here. Playing without fans lacks something, but it is a situation which we are going to have to live with, and we must adapt to the new situation.”
